Fundraising Team Volunteer

Role title: Fundraising Team Volunteer

Location: Home based – internet required

Hours: ~1 hour per week plus an additional 2 hours per week for conference call team meeting and any follow up work

Objective: This role works as part of a small team to raise money for PANDAS Foundation

Tasks:

  • Respond to fundraising enquiries
  • Provide great customer care to supporters
  • Add supporters to the database
  • Record correspondence
  • Help come up with fundraising ideas
  • Occasional other work such as data entry and promoting events
  • Attend a monthly conference all (second Monday of every month at 8pm)

Reports to: Claire Nethersole, Fundraising Manager

Skills required:

  • Computer literate – we use a database which you will be trained on, Facebook, word and excel

Responsible to: PANDAS Helpline Co-ordinator

Overall Job Description: We need dedicated PANDAS Helpline volunteers who will work from their own home. PANDAS Helpline provides support, information and a listening ear to individuals with pre or postnatal illnesses and to those seeking help on their behalf.

PANDAS offer advice and support to individuals, their families and carers across the UK through our Helpline, email support, support groups and online community.

When talking to callers on the PANDAS Helpline you will be able to discuss the options and information to allow them to find the best route to their recovery.

We rely on the generosity, enthusiasm and the commitment of volunteers to help keep PANDAS Helpline running.

What training will I receive?

  • What is Perinatal mental health? An overview of the types of perinatal mental health problems that you might encounter.
  • Fathers and postnatal depression: A brief overview of how we can support fathers with postnatal depression or if they are supporting a loved one.
  • Call handling and listening skills:Active listening skills, paraphrasing, reflection, empathy, call handlings skills & guidelines
  • Support Services (Health Professionals): An overview of the different health professionals who might be involved in the care of someone suffering a pre or postnatal illness.
  • Support Services (What does PANDAS offer): An overview of the services which PANDAS offers to individuals, their families and carers
  • Handling suicidal calls: understanding and awareness of what we can do to help and who to turn too.
  • How to complete admin surrounding your role.

What shift would I work?

Volunteers are required to undertake a minimum of one 3 hour shift per week on the PANDAS Helpline. The time that you volunteer is dependent on your availability.

Where would I work?

Our phones system means that you can work from home. You need to have access to the internet and have a landline telephone. Unfortunately we are currently unable to route calls through to a mobile due to the cost implications for PANDAS.

Experience:

  • Customer service phone work desirable.
  • You must have a strong interest in or passion for our cause. You need to ensure you have the time and the dedication for the hours involved before applying. Be a skilled, empathic and patient listener, but at the same time be able to take charge of calls and signpost people in the right direction.

Job title: PANDAS volunteer support group leader

Overall job description:

We are looking for dedicated PANDAS support group leaders to run support groups in their local community offering peer support to individual, families and carers affected by pre and post natal illnesses.

Responsible to:

PANDAS Support Groups Team Manager

Requirements:

You must be able to offer a listening ear, provide support and advice with understanding and a safe and non judgemental environment for all that attend your group.

You need to ensure that you have the time and dedication required to build up a successful PANDAS support group.

You must have a strong interest in, or passion for, our cause.

You will need to have a DBS check and to have completed some online training in Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding, both of which will be arranged and funded by PANDAS.

Your well being is of upmost importance to us and we recognise that running a support group and supporting those who are struggling can be very challenging at times, therefore if you have been suffering with pre and/or post natal illness yourself, we ask that you have been well for at least 6 months before taking on the commitment of running a support group.

You must have a strong interest in or passion for our cause.

You will need to have a DBS check and to have completed some online training in Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding, both of which will be arranged and funded by PANDAS.
